Postgraduate Qualifications in Place Management and Leadership

Manchester Metropolitan University has validated a suite of specialist qualifications designed for those who work to make places better, through development, management, or marketing: These qualifications are the PgCert, PgDip and MSc in Place Management and Leadership.

These are all new awards. Whilst over 100 students have successfully studied at Introductory Diploma, International Certificate or Masters level with us, our new postgraduate suite of awards includes more emphasis on the technological drivers of place change, the importance of community development and develops skills in place leadership as well as analysing ‘big data’ to inform place decision making.

Course delivery

Two modes of study are available: Blended learning and distance learning.  We recommend students opt for the blended learning delivery model, for the best expereince. There is a three-day workshop in Manchester backed up by distance learning for each 30 credit module. Feedback from previous programmes has demonstrated that students really value the specialist nature of the content. Teaching is undertaken by leading academics and practitioners in the field. Students have come from over 20 countries to study place management with us, including the USA, Australia, Singapore, South Africa as well as UK and Europe.

Diploma in Market Administration

The Institute of Place Management is delighted to work with NABMA and accredit the popular Diploma  in Market Administration. The course enables you to gain a sound understanding of the day-to-day, administrative and legal issues surrounding the marketing and management of a market.

To be awarded the Diploma in Market Administration, delegates will have to attend each of the 6 sessions (in Derby, England) and also need to complete three written assignments to the required standard.

Delegates registering for the whole programme receive Student Membership of the Institute of Place Management for the period of the course.

The course is open to delegates from anywhere in the world but you should note that some of the content, particularly relating to legal issues, trading standards, and Health and Safety At Work Act, is UK specific.

Course delivery

The 6 day course is running twice in 2018 - Spring and Summer. The course is taught in three two day blocks each covering a different area, Communcations, The Law and Practical Operations.
